The Settling Mindset
I like to call the settling mindset, the average mindset. This is the mindset of the majority. This was the mindset I had. I figured I was meant to be the average, overweight dad who would sit around drinking beer and watching sports all day. Every time I’d think about getting back to working out and losing weight, my mind would rationalize it away by making excuses. I’d tell myself I was too tired to go to the gym, or I don’t have time to go to the gym, or I’ll start next month.
Our minds try to rationalize difficult tasks because these tasks take us out of our comfort zones. We can’t grow mentally and physically with this mentality. This is where the never settle mindset comes in.
The Never Settle Mindset
When one settles for average, they tend to have a fixed mindset. This mindset inhibits growth in all facets of life. Our minds love to seek the path of least resistance. The never settle mindset is about never settling for average. It is about taking us out of our comfort zones. It is about pushing ourselves in the gym to the limits each and every workout. It is about seeking comfort in discomfort. It is about developing the discipline necessary to achieve your fitness goals no matter what.
